Constantly, only when the compressor runs, only when the door has been open, only at night when the house is quiet. Each of those points somewhere different.

Is the cabinet standing firmly? Do the feet need adjusting? Is the compressor making furniture or bottles vibrate? These are the maker’s own first questions and they resolve a good share of these calls.

- A fan — bearing wear, or a blade catching ice, which usually brings a cooling complaint with it.
- The compressor mount — the least common and the most often assumed.
