# Liebherr water inside or underneath

### The fastest diagnosis is what the appliance is telling you

If the appliance is plumbed for ice or water, close the supply now and diagnose afterwards. A slow leak behind joinery does its damage quietly and for weeks.

### Two different problems that look the same

Water inside the cabinet is almost always drainage — the normal rear-wall condensation failing to reach the evaporation tray. Water on the floor is almost always plumbing, and on a built-in column the pipework may be behind the joinery. The first is an appliance repair; the second is a race against your kitchen.

A blocked defrost drain

The normal rear-wall condensation with nowhere to go, so it collects in the cabinet instead of evaporating.

The water line, valve or filter

On a plumbed cabinet this is the first suspect for water on the floor, and it may be behind the cabinetry rather than in the appliance.

A door that no longer seals

Humid air condensing where it should not, then running.

An appliance out of level

Which sends condensate the wrong way rather than to the drain.

Close the water supply

First, before anything else, on any plumbed cabinet.

Find out whether it is inside or underneath

Inside points at the drain, underneath points at the plumbing.

Look at the level

A cabinet out of level drains to the wrong place.

Find the shut-off before anything else

On a plumbed cabinet suspect the supply first, and close it. A refrigerator that is cooling perfectly can still be leaking from a line or a valve, and the damage that does to a kitchen is worse than most appliance failures.

### Water collects inside at the bottom.

That is usually the defrost drain rather than a leak. The condensation the maker calls normal has to go somewhere; when the drain blocks it stays in the cabinet.
