# Liebherr ice maker not making ice

### The fastest diagnosis is what the appliance is telling you

Work through the maker's own three questions before calling: is the ice maker turned on, is the drawer closed properly, and is there enough water in the tank and is the tank inserted correctly. A real share of these calls end there.

### The maker’s own troubleshooting has three rows

Is the appliance connected. Is the ice maker on, is the drawer closed, is there water in the tank and is the tank seated. And: the control lamp above the ON/OFF button flashes — is there enough water, is the tank in correctly. That is the entire published list, and it resolves more of these calls than anything we could add to it.

Water tank empty or not seated

The maker names this twice — once for no ice and once for the flashing lamp. It is the first thing to check and it is free.

The drawer not properly closed

Also published, also free.

A filter at the end of its life

Restricted flow shows up as slow ice long before it shows up as taste.

The supply valve

Partly closed since somebody worked under the sink, or not opening fully.

A compartment that is not cold enough

An ice maker in a warm freezer makes little. That is a cooling diagnosis wearing an ice maker's clothes.

The module itself

Motor, mold heater and harness — measured rather than swapped.

Is it switched on

The maker asks this first for a reason.

Water in the tank, tank properly in

The published answer to the flashing lamp.

Is the drawer fully closed

Third of the maker's three questions.

When was the filter last changed

In this water, sooner than most people think.

Two free checks first, published by the maker

What it usually means

No ice at all

Slower than it used to be

Lamp flashing above the on/off button

### The lamp above the button is flashing.

That is documented and it is about water: is there enough in the tank, and has the tank been inserted correctly. Those two checks are the maker's own published answer.

### It makes a little ice but not much.

Usually water rather than ice maker — a tired filter, a valve not fully open, or a supply partly closed. It can also be a freezer running a few degrees warm, which is why the compartment temperature gets checked on the same visit.
