# Liebherr food freezing in the refrigerator

### The fastest diagnosis is what the appliance is telling you

Move the affected food away from the back wall and the vents for a day. Air comes in cold at specific points, and the shelf directly in front of an outlet runs several degrees below the cabinet average by design.

### A cabinet has cold and warm places by design

Cold air is introduced at specific points and circulates. That means the difference between the coldest and warmest parts of a correctly working refrigerator is several degrees, and where you put things matters more than most people expect. Before assuming a defect, move the milk.

Where the food is sitting

In front of an outlet, or hard against the rear wall. The commonest cause and it costs nothing.

A set point that is too low

Often changed during a heatwave and never changed back.

A sensor reading warm

The control is over-cooling because it believes the cabinet is warmer than it is.

A damper stuck open

Cold arriving continuously in a compartment that only wanted some.

Move the food and wait a day

This alone answers most of these.

Check the set point

And whether anybody changed it in August.

Thermometer at the front and the back

Two readings show whether it is the cabinet or the position.

Too cold is a diagnosis too

What it usually means

Ice in milk at the back

Salad frozen at the bottom

Everything fine except one shelf

### It only freezes things at the back.

Then it is almost certainly position rather than a defect. Cold enters at the back and the shelf nearest the outlet is the coldest place in the cabinet. Keep salad and milk toward the front.
