### Why this one can be proved

Most diagnoses on an appliance are an argument from symptoms. A temperature sensor is not: it has a published resistance at a given temperature, it can be measured cold and measured warm, and the answer is a number. Anybody quoting you for a sensor should be able to tell you that number.

The manual suggests this itself. What the display says and what the shelf is at are two different facts, and the gap between them is the diagnosis.

Measure the sensor against its curve

Resistance at a known temperature. This either matches or it does not.

Check what the sensor is telling the board

A good sensor read badly is a board question, and it is worth settling which of the two you have before replacing either.

Replace and verify over hours

A cabinet needs time to prove it is holding.

Then something in that chain is lying, and the cheapest end of it is the sensor. Put an independent thermometer on the shelf where the food is actually going bad and tell us what it reads — that one number changes what we bring.

### Could it just be where I put things?

It genuinely could. Air moves in a pattern in these cabinets, and the shelf nearest an outlet runs colder than the drawer at the bottom. Before assuming a sensor, try moving the milk.
