# Liebherr evaporator fan and running-noise repair

### The three usual answers, in order of cost

- **Nothing** — the cabinet is not level, or is resting against cabinetry, or bottles are ringing against each other. The manual lists all three.
- **A fan** — bearing wear, or a blade catching ice, which usually brings a cooling complaint with it.
- **The compressor mount** — the least common and the most often assumed.

What this involves

Levelling and contact checked before any part

Fan, compressor mount and airflow told apart

A noise that changes with the door is a different answer

Find out when it happens

Constantly, only when the compressor runs, only when the door has been open, only at night when the house is quiet. Each of those points somewhere different.

Check what the manual checks

Is the cabinet standing firmly? Do the feet need adjusting? Is the compressor making furniture or bottles vibrate? These are the maker’s own first questions and they resolve a good share of these calls.

Then the fan

An evaporator fan with a worn bearing or ice against the blade is the common mechanical answer, and it usually arrives with a cooling complaint attached.

Measure the result

A quieter cabinet is easy to claim and easy to demonstrate.

### It only makes the noise sometimes.

That is useful. A noise tied to the compressor cycle is mechanical; a noise tied to the door is the fan, which in some cabinets runs differently while the door is open; a noise that appeared when nothing changed is often the cabinet touching something it did not touch before.

### Is a noisy fridge urgent?

Rarely urgent, occasionally a warning. A fan grinding against ice is telling you about a defrost problem before the temperature does, which is one of the few cases where noise is genuinely worth acting on early.
