### Why the board is blamed so often

It is the part that can explain any symptom, which makes it the easiest thing to name and the hardest thing to disprove. On this equipment the honest order is: supply, sensors, the loads the board drives, and only then the board itself — and each of those steps produces a measurement somebody can repeat.

A board acting on a failed sensor behaves exactly like a failed board. Inputs first, always.

Check what the board is doing

Outputs to the compressor, the fans, the defrost circuit and the lighting, measured at the board rather than assumed from behavior.

Separate the display from the control

A dead display on a cabinet that is still holding temperature is a different and much smaller problem than a control that has stopped.

Then, if it is the board, say so with the evidence

Which input was good, which output was absent.

### Everything is dead — no display, no light, nothing.

Start at the breaker and the outlet, in that order, because the manual does: is the appliance turned on, is the cord seated, is the breaker or fuse in operating condition. A completely dead cabinet is more often a supply problem than a board, and that check is free.

### I was told it needs a new board. Should I get a second opinion?

Ask the first person which input was good and which output was missing. If they can answer, they measured. If the answer is that everything else was ruled out, that is elimination rather than diagnosis, and on the most expensive part of the appliance elimination is not good enough.
