Inside the fresh food compartment on a refrigerator, usually high on the left or right wall. On the edge of the door on a dishwasher. On the frame inside the door on a wall oven or a range. Behind a filter on a hood. Inside the door frame on a microwave, a washer or a dryer. Behind the grille at the bottom on an undercounter cabinet, and inside the door frame on a wine cellar. Take a photograph rather than writing it down. The full number includes the letters after the digits — those decide which parts fit, and they are the part people misread most often. ## Or start from the symptom If you do not have the number to hand, start from what the unit is doing. These were built to be repaired, and a legacy cabinet in good condition with sound cabinetry is worth keeping. Where it stops being worth it is when the work approaches what the unit is worth, or when a second major failure is already visible — and we will say so on the visit rather than after. Can you still get parts for the older units? — For most of what fails, yes — OEM parts are available on order, though legacy parts can take a few days to source. That is why we confirm a part is the problem before ordering it rather than after. Why do you not list the specifications for each model? — Because we cannot verify them. Capacity, dimensions and production years published second-hand are wrong often enough that a table of them would be a liability, and inventing one would break our own rule about publishing only what we can stand behind. What we do publish is what the number means for the repair. The number on my unit has letters after it. Does that matter? — Yes, for parts. The digits identify the family; the letters identify the configuration, and two units sharing the same digits can take different components. Photograph the whole plate and we will read it from there. These pages exist because a number is what people search by; everything else this maker sells is covered on the appliance pages. ## Where your Liebherr model number is, and why the list looks the way it does The plate is inside the cabinet, on the left-hand side, and it carries **three** numbers rather than one: a Type Designation, a Service Number and an Appliance or Serial Number. The maker asks for all three together, and most people photograph whichever looks most like a model number — which is usually the least conclusive of the three on its own. Cabinets that look identical behind matching cabinet fronts are frequently different generations taking different parts, and the Service Number is what tells them apart. And six of the maker’s own product pages name **two** models at once, because Side-by-Side pairs are sold as a unit; here they are listed separately, since each column carries its own plate and only one of them is usually the one that stopped. Ten of these cabinets are **Monolith**, which is the only line the maker names on its own US pages: the MRB refrigerators, the MF freezer columns and the MW wine coolers. It is a line rather than a different machine — it changes the cabinetry and the interior, not the refrigeration — so it changes what a visit looks like rather than what it costs. If your model is not listed, it is almost certainly an earlier generation rather than an omission, and we repair those too.
