# Liebherr refrigerators

### Fifty-two cabinets, and the fitting decides the visit

Twenty-six of the refrigerators in this line are bottom-freezer cabinets, ten are fully integrated behind your own cabinet fronts, ten are Side-by-Side pairs, five are French-door and one is freestanding. Whether a cabinet is freestanding or built into the joinery decides how it comes out, how long the appointment runs and whether there is plumbing in the picture — which is why it is the first thing we ask about and the last thing worth guessing.

Three of the fully integrated columns are Monolith — MRB 2400, MRB 3010 and MRB 3600 — and those have [a page of their own](/appliances/monolith/), because what changes on a Monolith is the cabinetry and the access rather than the refrigeration.

### What we are called out for most

- Not cold enough, or one compartment holding while the other drifts
- A number between F1 and F5 in the display, which is a service reference rather than a diagnosis
- Ice on the rear wall — normal, and explained above, but worth checking rather than living with
- The interior light out after a long door-open, which is the appliance behaving as designed
- Door alarms that sound sooner than they should, which is usually the seal rather than the sensor

### BioFresh, and why it changes the conversation

A BioFresh compartment is held close to freezing at a controlled humidity, separately from the rest of the refrigerator. When somebody says “the fridge is fine but the drawer is not”, that is a different diagnosis from a cabinet that has lost cold everywhere — and it is worth saying which one you have when you book, because it changes what we bring.

### What to have ready when you call

The Type Designation, Service Number and Serial Number from the plate inside on the left-hand side; any number showing in the display; whether the appliance is paneled; and what changed — warmer, noisier, alarming, or stopped.

BioFresh, and why it changes the conversation

A BioFresh compartment is held close to freezing at a controlled humidity, separately from the rest of the refrigerator. When somebody says “the fridge is fine but the drawer is not”, that is a different diagnosis from a cabinet that has lost cold everywhere — and it is worth saying which one you have when you book, because it changes what we bring.

What to have ready when you call

The Type Designation, Service Number and Serial Number from the plate inside on the left-hand side; any number showing in the display; whether the appliance is paneled; and what changed — warmer, noisier, alarming, or stopped.

### There is ice building up on the back wall inside. Is that a problem?

Usually not, and this is the most common reason somebody calls about a cabinet with nothing wrong with it. The maker says so plainly: humidity in the refrigerator compartment condenses on the rear wall and freezes while the compressor runs, then defrosts during the idle period and drains away for evaporation. What is worth a call is ice that never clears between cycles, ice thick enough to touch the shelves, or water appearing on the floor of the compartment rather than draining.

### The display is showing F3. What does that mean?

It means the appliance has registered a problem and is giving you the number to quote. Liebherr publishes the numbers and does not publish what they stand for — its own manual says to have the number available when you contact service, and its troubleshooting section decodes none of them. Pages that tell you F3 is a specific sensor are guessing. What genuinely helps: write the number down, then read the plate inside on the left-hand side and write down the Type Designation, the Service Number and the Serial Number too. Those four things together turn a diagnostic visit into a short one.

### It is built in behind a cabinet door. Does that change the repair?

It changes the access, which changes the appointment. A fully integrated column is fitted into the joinery, leveled into it and often plumbed for ice or water, so it does not roll out the way a freestanding cabinet does. We plan that before arriving rather than discovering it in your kitchen — which is why we ask, when you book, whether the appliance carries your own cabinet front.

### The interior light has gone out but the fridge is still cold.

Check one thing first, because it is free: has the door been open for more than about fifteen minutes? The lighting switches itself off after a long door-open, by design, and comes back on the next time the door is properly closed and reopened. If it has not been standing open and the light is still out, that is a lighting problem and worth a visit — but it is not a cooling problem, and the food is fine.

### How long should one of these last?

Long enough that repairing is normally the right call. Liebherr warrants the sealed system — compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and the tubing between them — for five years, and covers parts in that system from the sixth through twelfth year. A maker that publishes a twelfth-year sealed-system position is telling you what it expects the cabinet to do, and our experience in South Florida kitchens matches it.
