The line changes the cabinetry and the interior, not the refrigeration, so it changes what a visit looks like rather than what it costs. Every freezer in the current line is a fully integrated column, and several are sold as one side of a Side-by-Side combination — two cabinets, two systems, two plates, one continuous run of cabinetry. A freezer that has failed beside a refrigerator that is fine is not a puzzle; it is two machines, and only one of them needs us. ### What the appliance tells you before we do - **Two dashes** — below-freezing temperatures only, so it has not got there yet. Three to five hours from cold, and after an outage. - **Flashing display and alarm** — not cold enough, from warm food, warm air, or the appliance. It stops on its own when the cause goes away. - **Power-failure light** — it got too warm while the power was off, and it will show you the worst temperature it reached if you ask. ### What to have ready when you call Whether the freezer is its own appliance or half of a pair, the plate details from inside on the left, how long it has been at the wrong temperature, and whether the alarm has cleared by itself since. That display only ever shows temperatures below freezing, so two dashes mean it is not there yet. From a cold start the maker allows three to five hours depending on the room, and the same thing happens after a power failure. If it has been running well over that and still will not show a number, then it is genuinely not reaching temperature and that is a repair. ### The alarm went off and the temperature display is flashing. The freezer is telling you it is not cold enough, and it will keep flashing until whatever caused that is put right. Three things cause it, and only one of them is a problem with the appliance: warm food just loaded, a lot of warm air let in while you were rearranging, or the appliance itself. Give it a couple of hours after loading before assuming the worst. If the display keeps flashing with the door shut and nothing new inside, call. ### There is a light on that says there was a power failure. Then the freezer got warmer than it should have while the power was off, and it is telling you so rather than letting you find out from the food. Touch the alarm icon and the appliance will show you the highest temperature it reached — which is the number that decides what is safe to keep. That is a feature doing its job, not a defect; it needs no repair, only clearing. ### Half of my Side-by-Side is warm and half is fine. Then you almost certainly have two appliances rather than one. Liebherr sells several of these as pairs of columns behind matching doors — two cabinets, two refrigeration systems, two model numbers on two plates.
